The First Telegraph

On May 24, 1844, Samuel Morse tapped out this message from the Supreme Court Chamber in the Capitol to his partner Alfred Vail in Baltimore. The words came from Numbers 23:23, suggested by Annie Ellsworth, daughter of the Patent Commissioner.
